Humanitarian context
In 2022, Zimbabwe had a fragile humanitarian context, with over 1.5 million people in need of assistance, of whom more than one million were children. Average household income went from $75 to $57 per month, resulting in economic instability. In addition, this was compounded by climate disasters and natural hazards, to which Zimbabwe is chronically exposed.

Our activity
In Zimbabwe, Action Against Hunger has carried out large projects aimed at strengthening the systems that communities in various provinces had designed to mitigate the impact of long droughts, economic crises and COVID-19 on food and water security. Through these initiatives, money was given in exchange for work, training was given and supplies were distributed to carry out agricultural and livestock activities, rehabilitate water infrastructures and promote hygiene.
Together with its partner Nutrition Action Zimbabwe (NAZ), Action Against Hunger launched the pilot project Farming with Alternative Pollinators (FAP). The aim was to test practical and affordable initiatives that would enable smallholder farmers to make more profits from their crops while preserving pollinator diversity and habitat.
