Humanitarian context
Despite progress in recent years, such as a 10% reduction in stunting of young children
and a 2% decrease in wasting, undernutrition remains a problem in Nepal. It affects
young children in particular and grows in part because of poverty and inequalities. In
addition, the impact of natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes and landslides,
increases food insecurity.

Our activity
Through its partnership with Sahara Nepal, Action Against Hunger works to enable
livelihoods to withstand disasters, as well as to improve the food security and diversity
of vulnerable households in Belaka municipality, Udayapur district.
In partnership with the Nepali Technical Assistance Group (NTAG), Action Against
Hunger also comprehensively assesses nutrition and food security in Belaka
Municipality. It also examines and treats severely and acutely malnourished children
aged between 6 and 59 months in a Government non-hospital centre for therapeutic
care.
In addition, in the municipalities of Kladige and Aamachhodingmo, located in the
district of Nuwakot, we launched a water, sanitation and hygiene project funded by the
city of Paris. In addition to improving runoff into in the river, its goal is to make access
to water for domestic and agricultural use sustainable and easier.
